— Seattle tech vet Marcelo Calbucci is heading to Amazon after a 4-year stint as CTO at Whitepages spinout Hiya.

Calbucci is joining Amazon’s People Experience Team. He told GeekWire that it’s a new group within the tech giant that is “working to improve the employee experience and make Amazon the best employer in the world.”

Calbucci is a former Microsoft manager who co-founded Seattle startup EveryMove. He also had brief stints at startup studio Pioneer Square Labs and health startup DoctorLink.

In an email to staffers at Hiya, which builds caller ID and spam-blocking software, Calbucci told employees that Hiya “has such a bright future ahead and I can’t wait to see it unfold over the next few years.”

Calbucci is known for his efforts to galvanize the Seattle startup community. He founded Seattle 2.0, a community site and events organization that was acquired by GeekWire in 2011.
