Miami home across the street from Gisele Bündchen’s new ‘cottage’ is destroyed by possible arson

Police are investigating a suspected arson just feet away from Gisele Bündchen’s new Miami home – days after she and husband Tom Brady confirmed their divorce after 13 years of marriage.

The home that went up in flames early Sunday morning is set in Miami’s Surfside neighborhood, down the block from the newly single supermodel’s recently purchased $1.25 million, three-bedroom property.

Upon arriving to the scene of the fire, officials discerned the blaze was the result of foul play, taking at least one person into custody and triggering a full-blown arson investigation. 

Crews were able to put out the flames shortly after arriving at the burned-out residence, but have yet to provide details pertaining to the as-of-now unidentified suspect and a prospective motive, as they press forward with their investigation.

The incident raises fresh concerns about the safety of Bündchen after her split from the 6-foot-4, 225-pound future hall of famer, as well as the her three school-aged kids, the youngest of whom is nine years old.

It comes after Bündchen, 42, quietly snapped up the home – situated a stone’s throw from Miami Beach – in February, two weeks before her estranged husband made the shock U-turn announcement he was coming out of retirement to return to the NFL.

The purchase was subsequently approved on June 10, with the former Victoria Secret model’s name reportedly the only one on the deed. 

The home is located just a 15 minute walk from Indian Creek Island, the affluent nabe where Gisele and Brady share a $17 million mansion that had been undergoing extensive renovations in the buildup to them announcing their split Friday.

This has allowed the fractured family some semblance of comfort amid their ongoing marital woes, which had been well documented in the months leading up to the blowup, during which time Bündchen shacked up by herself in Surfside along with her kids – 15-year-old John, 12-year-old Ben, and youngest Vivian.

Bündchen shares Benjamin and nine-year-old Vivian with her soon-to-be ex-husband, while John is a product of Brady’s first marriage with fellow model Bridget Moynahan.

The burned-out home is set across the street from Bündchen’s modest $1.25 million ‘Art Deco-style cottage,’ purchased back on February 28 – two weeks before her husband reversed his NFL retirement, and five months before the pair announced their divorce

At just 1,890 square feet, the home – which is located in Miami’s Surfside neighborhood – is comparatively tiny when placed alongside the enormous properties that Brady and Gisele snapped up together during their marriage

Described as a ‘true gem’ in its online listing, the property features an enormous kitchen with a marble ‘waterfall island’ and it is said to have been ‘impeccably renovated’ – however Gisele has already submitted paperwork to remodel the home

The home boasts one master bedroom (seen), as well as two other rooms, which the listing has set up for children

 The home is ideal for the newly single supermodel, who shares 12-year-old son Benjamin and nine-year-old daughter Vivian with her estranged husband. The three are pictured last week during a family outing near the Surfside home

The master bathroom comes complete with his-and-hers sinks, although Gisele may choose to remove those during her remodeling process. It is not clear is she will stay at the residence with her kids post-divorce

With that said,  the current owners set the property up for a family with two children – meaning the property, which boasts 2.5 bathrooms, comes as a major downsize to Bündchen and her well-to-do brood.

At just 1,890 square feet, the home is comparatively tiny when placed alongside the enormous properties that Brady and Gisele snapped up together over the course of their marriage, which hit the rocks earlier this year ahead of the 45-year-old NFL star’s rumored final season in the league.

Together, the former couple own numerous properties across the country – including a $3.6 million apartment in New York City, a $17 million mansion located on Miami’s Indian Creek Island, a lavish estate in Yellowstone, Montana, that’s reportedly worth $5.7 million, and a stunning home in Costa Rica.

It is not yet known if any of the family was inside their new home at the time of the nearby fire, which saw volunteers with the American Red Cross administer aid to four people

Police have yet to confirm those victims were inside the home during the blaze.

Miami-Dade Police are heading the investigation, which has so far seen one suspect arrested

Two years before going their separate ways, Tom and Gisele purchased a 5,772-square-foot home on Indian Creek Island, and tore it down – with plans to build a eco-friendly mansion in its place, forking out an additional $10.12 million in construction costs. That home is located a short walk from Gisele’s new Miami home.

The island – less than half a square mile in size and only accessible by a single, guarded bridge – has long been a magnet for billionaires, celebrities, and power couples who’ve sought it out because it its privacy, as it is protected by a private police force that patrols the community around-the-clock by foot, sky, and land.

The security available at the exceedingly posh residence, consequently, puts the soundness offered at the Surfside property to shame – especially considering the family’s famous pedigree.  

In their divorce announcements, both Bundchen and Brady made clear their plans to continue co-parenting their children, however their official custody arrangement has yet to be revealed 

It is unclear whether Bündchen intends to use the home as a full-time residence, or a pied-à-terre whenever she needs to be in Florida

As yet, the supermodel has not stated whether her intention is to remain in the Sunshine State – where Brady plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – or return to a large city such as New York, where the ex-couple already owns a pricey condo.
