Paramount+ releases a new Criminal Minds: Evolution finale image revealing the return of an unexpected character tied to Dave Rossi. The BAU’s hunt for Elias Voit is in its last stretch. Racing against time because of the FBI’s added pressure on the team, the profilers’ long mission became so much more complicated when one of their own was taken captive, with Criminal Minds: Evolution episode 9 revealing that Voit has Rossi as a hostage.

Picking up from the penultimate outing’s cliffhanger, the official Instagram account of the show now releases a new Criminal Minds: Evolution finale image revealing the return of Rossi’s wife, Krystall. Check out the promotional still below:

The Paramount+ show didn’t waste time establishing Krystall’s death, as the Criminal Minds: Evolution premiere confirmed Rossi’s loss. However, it was later on in the season that the reason for her unexpected demise was revealed as Rossi continues to struggle in accepting the tragedy.

How Rossi’s Dead Wife Comes Back In Criminal Minds: Evolution

It’s interesting that Paramount+ is willing to spoil Krystall’s return in the Criminal Minds: Evolution finale. More than that, however, it raises questions about how Krystall can appear in the police procedural given her death. Chances are that her cameo comes through a vision. The original CBS series did something similar during Derek Morgan’s final arc. As the profiler was being tortured, he saw a vision of his dead dad, who helped him figure out a way to escape.

The Criminal Minds: Evolution finale plot synopsis teases Rossi’s dangerous situation at the hands of Voit. While he may not be physically harmed like Derek was, he would still need to lean on his mental strength to figure out a way to beat Voit in his own twisted game. This is where Krystall can come in. Despite their rather brief marriage, it was clear during the original Criminal Minds run that they loved each other very much. Somehow, Rossi’s current predicament could also help him finally let her go.

Whether Rossi is able to get out of captivity is still uncertain. However, there’s no doubt that the rest of the BAU will stop at nothing to ensure his safe return in the Criminal Minds: Evolution finale. If he survives this, however, it’s curious what his future could be like, including if he’s finally willing to retire for good.
