Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Actually Explain One Major GT Plot Point

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero actually explained a lingering plot point brought up in the series Dragon Ball GT: why Pan absolutely hates Androids.

While there aren’t many obvious connections between the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Dragon Ball GT–as Super Hero was more connected to the ongoing continuity of Dragon Ball Super–there is one aspect of the film that actually explains one major GT plot point.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a film that details the resurgence of the Red Ribbon Army after years of being obsolete following Goku’s decimation of the organization during the events of classic Dragon Ball. While the original RRA had Dr. Gero as their head scientist (the man responsible for creating the Androids and Cell), the new RRA recruited Gero’s grandson, Dr. Hero, who proved to be just as brilliant as his grandfather. Hedo invented all-new Androids who were even stronger than anything Gero had previously created–and with them, the new Red Ribbon Army was primed to conquer the world. However, the only thing holding them back from a complete global takeover was the Z-Fighters team, but the Red Ribbon Army had a plan for them as well. The fascist organization kidnaped Pan, the daughter of Gohan, in an effort to use her to lure the Z-Fighters to them and then wipe them out with their superior Androids.

While Pan is simply a character in need of rescue during Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, she is the main protagonist in Dragon Ball GT alongside Trunks and Goku. In Dragon Ball GT, Pan, Goku, and Trunks are on a mission to travel the universe and find the Black Star Dragon Balls within the time span of one year, or else the Earth will disappear forever. On one of the first planets the Z-Fighters go to, they come across a little robot named Gill who ends up absorbing the Dragon Radar and merging with it–effectively becoming a sentient Dragon Radar himself and the newest addition to the team. While Goku and Trunks are accepting of Gill, Pan consistently treats him like dirt. Within the first episode of Pan meeting Gill, she is kicking him around, stepping on him while he squirmed beneath her foot, punching him in his robot face, and just generally being really mean to him for almost no reason.

Pan Hates Androids in GT Because of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Gamma 1 and 2 from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

Pan is only three years old when she is abducted by the Red Ribbon Army in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and evidently, the trauma of that experience really stuck with her. During the early development of her brain, Pan was shown first hand that Androids were bad as her dad and her trainer, Piccolo, unleashed incredible power for the sole purpose of destroying the villainous Androids who stole Pan from her home. This explains exactly why Pan is so mean to Gill–but her aggression towards robots doesn’t stop there. When Pan is battling Machine Mutants (alien Androids) on the planet M2, she is decimating armies of them without holding back, crushing them beneath her feet with hate in her eyes even when they pathetically try to squirm away or surrender.

Pan has some deep-seated disdain for Androids in Dragon Ball GT–an aspect of her character that becomes increasingly obvious as the show goes on–and the reason behind that plot point can be traced back to her very first (and overwhelmingly negative) experience with Androids in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
