Hawkeye Post-Credit Scene Explained

The final episode of Hawkeye is here and while the show has avoided the MCU’s fondness for post-credits scenes for the most part, Hawkeye episode 6 has a post-credits scene. It doesn’t quite follow the trend of Marvel’s after-credits scenes, admittedly, but it’s a fun look back to one of the most talked-about scenes of Hawkeye episode 1. And it could be a hint of the Avengers future after Hawkeye’s ending.

By far the best MCU Disney+ TV show so far, Hawkeye was the perfect answer to whether Marvel could still do smaller scale stories in the MCU after Avengers: Endgame‘s spectacle. Even with a teased “Avengers-level threat” and the return of Daredevil‘s Kingpin, played once more by Vincent D’Onofrio, everything felt personal for Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton. The story dealt not only with the legacy of Black Widow’s death on Vormir, but also Hawkeye’s own place as an Avenger and the looming shadow of the so-called superhero curse that makes happy endings in the MCU a rare thing.

After the credits rolled on the final episode, Hawkeye‘s episode 6 after-credits scene returned to the scene of the greatest musical crime in Clint Barton’s lifetime – Rogers: The Musical. Having been treated to part of big number “Save The City” in episode 1, the Hawkeye post-credits scene showed the full song, with the stage Avengers assembling once more for another rendition. Hardly revelatory for the MCU’s future, but it’s hard not to feel like this after-credits stinger was Hawkeye‘s reminder that there’s more to the Avengers story in the future.

Who Was The Rogers: The Musical Conductor In The Hawkeye Post-Credits Scene? Cameo Explained

The Hawkeye post-credits scene includes a couple of notable stage musical cameos, with the Rogers: The Musical conductor played by Marc Shaiman, who composed the music and songs for Hairspray among many other Broadway and Hollywood credits. The camera lingers on him enough times to let the audience know he’s important. There’s also appearances for Broadway actors Nico DeJesus’ (Newsies), Harris M. Turner (Frozen), Katherine Roarty (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), Jordan Chin (In the Heights), and Tom Feeney as Captain America. And for fans of School Of Rock (and Rent), Adam Pascal, who plays the New York lead in the Hawkeye post-credits scene was the frontman of Jack Black’s Dewey’s band No Vacancy.
