Mary Cosby Rumored To Return To RHOSLC

[ad_1]

Mary Cosby is rumored to be getting a second chance after skipping the RHOSLC season 2 reunion, a fate known to destroy reality television careers.

Rumors are swirling that the often problematic-labeled Pentecostal First Lady, Mary Cosby, will make her return for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 4, despite skipping out on the season 2 reunion, a move known to guarantee an end to any reality television star’s career. After viewers came to know Mary during seasons 1 and 2, she received mostly mixed reactions from viewers. Her quick wit and dry reads of fellow cast mates made her reality television gold. But she also received criticism from those who view her church as a cult. She’s also been called out because her clashes with the cast were too often, and at least twice, her words were racially insensitive. Many of these reactions from viewers led to Mary skipping the season 2 reunion.

After Mary Cosby sat out from filming season 3, there are rumors she will return to the show. According to a source who spoke to Page Six, “Mary was grateful for the time away from the cameras, but she seems ready to get back in the mix.” However, the source goes on to clarify that Mary will be returning to the show in a “friend of” role, not as a fulltime housewife. A second source hinted that Mary will return to the group as Meredith Marks’ friend. “They’ve reestablished a connection over the past year,” the source states, “and have been texting and talking more in recent months.”

In RHOSLC season 2, Mary denounced allegations she was running a cult. According to Distractify, several congregants spoke out, claiming that Mary, a pastor who is known to love luxury, yelled at her congregation, saying that they had not given her enough cash as gifts on her birthday. Meanwhile, many of these church members were reportedly on food stamps or were forced to take out multiple mortgages just to continue on as members. On top of these allegations, Mary also was filmed using many racially insensitive comments, such as referencing an Asian cast mate’s “slanted eyes” and comparing another to a “Mexican thug.”

While Mary apologized for her Mexican comment, she claimed that she loved her cast members eyes and that her intent was only to compliment. “Really? I love slanted eyes!” she stated. While Meredith has forgiven Mary of her ways, the remainder of the ladies on RHOSLC have cut ties with Mary. Should she return for RHOSLC season 4, Mary will need to watch her words, not only to rebuild friendships within the group, but also, to grow and to evolve as a human. Otherwise, the viewers will once again, and rightfully so, rip her to shreds. If these casting rumors are true, however, with RHOSLC season 4 bringing back this polarizing pastor, a redemptive story arch, filled with listening and accountability, could be Mary’s main storyline.

RHOSLC had a rough season 3. With storylines and friendships that were all over the place, as was seen during Jen Shah’s legal woes and Heather Gay’s mysterious black eye. Seeing more cast cohesion and light-hearted drama return to the show would be a welcome change. A shake-up is in order, and Mary would definitely fit this bill, stepping back in as Jen steps out to begin her six-year prison sentence. Some of Mary’s one-liners, such as telling Jen that she “smelled like hospital” made for excellent television. If Mary can return showing a different side, while still retaining her over-the-top quips, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 4 could just be the best one yet.
