Riri Williams’ Stark Suit Sets Up Another MCU Project (Not Just Ironheart)

Wakanda Forever introduced Riri Williams to the MCU ahead of her next appearance on Disney+ in Ironheart, but her debut could set up another MCU film.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Riri Williams to the MCU ahead of her appearance in Ironheart, perfectly setting up yet another MCU project. Dominique Thorne debuted as the genius MIT student, Riri Williams, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, brought to Wakanda by Shuri and Okoye after her vibranium detector was used by the CIA to trace vibranium in the ocean, alerting the nations of the world to the existence of Talokan beneath the waves. Williams was at the core of the battle between the Wakandans and Namor’s army but wasn’t simply relegated to a plot McGuffin since Williams herself suited up and fought alongside the new Black Panther.

Riri Williams’ introduction in Wakanda Forever marks the debut of Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man’s, a legacy hero in the MCU, especially since Williams herself used Stark tech to build her armor. Williams’ next appearance in Ironheart will surely uncover how she got her hands on Tony Stark’s coveted tech since many have tried and failed over the years to acquire Stark’s equipment. While Black Panther: Wakanda Forever directly sets up Williams’ journey in Ironheart, it also helps to set the stage for one mysterious Marvel Studios project that has recently seen an upgrade from Disney+ series to feature-length film.

Riri Williams Using Stark Tech Sets Up Armor Wars

Don Cheadle is set to star in his first solo project as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, when Armor Wars hits theaters, sending the Iron Man ally on a mission to recover lost and stolen Stark tech around the world. This plays perfectly into Riri Williams’ storyline in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as Shuri notices that the teen has Stark tech and has used it to build her very own Iron Man-esque suit of armor, so this will certainly get the attention of Rhodey in the MCU’s future. It’s likely that Rhodey and Williams will team up in Armor Wars, since both are continuing Tony Stark’s MCU legacy.

Will Riri Williams Appear In Armor Wars?

Currently, Armor Wars doesn’t have a scheduled release date, but it could be assumed that the film will release at some point before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in the MCU’s Phase 6. Williams will see development before then, as Ironheart is set to release on Disney+ during Phase 5, so it’s entirely possible that she could make an appearance in Armor Wars alongside War Machine. Ironheart appearing in Armor Wars would help to integrate Williams better with a wider range of heroes in the MCU, brilliantly setting her up to be a key player in the battle against Kang the Conqueror.

Speculation is rising about what characters will appear in Armor Wars and what story will actually unfold, especially after the former Disney+ series was reworked into a feature-length film, as this potentially means some bigger names will be involved. Some rumors suggest that Robert Downey Jr. could make his MCU return in Armor Wars as an AI version of Tony Stark, perhaps mentoring Riri Williams on her development into his true legacy hero. Aside from Ironheart, her own Disney+ series, Armor Wars seems like the perfect place for Williams to show up after her fantastic debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
