The Avengers & X-Men Unite in Jaw-Dropping Cosplay

[ad_1]

Before the inevitable MCU crossover, Marvel Comics’ two memorable superhero teams the Avengers and X-Men assemble for a memorable cosplay photoshoot.

As mutants begin to make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the long awaited Avengers and Uncanny X-Men live-action crossover finally becomes a reality. Not on film, but thanks to a fantastic cosplay photo shoot spotlighting select members of the two most iconic superhero groups in the Marvel Universe.

While these may be two of the most iconic teams in comic book history, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Children of the Atom could not be more different. The government-funded Avengers are often praised and celebrated for their heroic efforts, while X-Men remain a group hated and feared for their mutant abilities, typically operating on the fringes of society, legality, and even brutality. When the Avengers and X-Men do cross paths, it’s often a hostile gathering before the two parties come together to unite against threats that absolutely require their disparate powers.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The cosplay event from cosplayer and digital artist @wens.1998 (Wens Universe) entitled “The Age of Heroes” finds Captain America, Cyclops, Spider-Man, and Wolverine standing together against a ruined cityscape backdrop. Captain America and Spider-Man are representatives of The Avengers, while Wolverine and Cyclops remain tied to Charles Xavier’s X-Men.

Standing in for the heroes alongside wens_1998’s Spidey are fellow cosplayers @masked_ mateo (Cyclops), @o.b_arkham (Captain America), and @ecto_titan (Wolverine). As the X-Men are naturally relegated to their own corner of the Marvel Universe, a splash page containing four from each team is a sight typically saved for only the most massive of event comics such as the original Secret Wars, House of M, and A.X.E.: Judgment Day.

While Marvel Comics and its beloved film division Marvel Studios have begun to bring awareness to obscure teams such as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Eternals, and Thunderbolts in recent years, the Avengers and X-Men will always hold a special place in the hearts of many readers. The Avengers may not have had the presence of the X-Men prior to the MCU, but it didn’t take long for the team to become an international household name. As heroes that face constant discrimination, the X-Men and their supporting characters represent societal themes/concepts that are ever persistent in the public consciousness. As an established collective, The Avengers brings together the best of Marvel’s heroes for the price of one on a monthly basis. Though fans may be years away from an Avengers/X-Men mash-up on the big screen, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and their mutant allies will continue to inspire legions of fans to create their own Marvel adventures.
