Netflix Announces Official Title for ‘Luther’ Movie Starring Idris Elba

We’re getting closer to the release of Idris Elba‘s new movie!

Netflix recently announced the official name for the movie adaption of Luther, which 50-year-old actor will be reprising his titular role in, which will be released in March 2023.

The movie will officially be titled Luthor: The Fallen Sun.

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: “In Luther: The Fallen Sun — an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for film — a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.”

Directed by Jamie Payne, the movie also stars Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis, and Dermot Crowley, who returns as Martin Schenk.

Luther ran for five seasons between 2010 and 2019. The last season of the show aired on BBC in 2019 and saw Luther getting arrested after letting serial killer Alice Morgan die.
