Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man 4’ Gets Promising Update From Sony Chairman

[ad_1]

Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairperson Tom Rothman has offered an update about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony’s Tom Rothman confirmed that the studio has plans for a new live-action Spider-Man movie following the recent success of No Way Home, which starred Tom Holland in his sixth Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance. No Way Home was the highest-grossing release of 2021, earning $1.916 billion at the worldwide box office, with extended version of the movie hitting theaters in September 2022.

While Marvel and Sony have yet to officially announce a release date for the next Spider-Man movie, Tom Rothman promised that it’s definitely coming. “You bet,” Rothman told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if he has plans for another live-action Spider-Man flick. “When you can expect it, I don’t know. Serve no wine before it’s time.

Spider-Man’s future after No Way Home

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Tom Holland teaming up with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to bring three different versions of the web-slinger to life, with the heroes joining forces to take on the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman and The Lizard. The movie ended on a tragic note, with everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe forgetting about Peter Parker, but it also set up a fully independent version of Spider-Man, with a post-post scene teasing the involvement of the venom symbiote for future web-slinger outings.

Tom Holland is likely to return as Peter Parker in Sony’s Spider-Man 4, and even if his supporting cast members may end up returning as well, here’s hoping it continues the narrative threads set up in No Way Home, in which Peter has to move on from his previous life thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell, and learn to become the man he’s meant to be, both in the suit and out of it.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Be sure to continue following us for more news on Sony’s Spider-Man 4, as well as Tom Holland’s future in the role, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
