A Twitch streamer almost burned down her kitchen after a dish caught fire while she was cooking on a live feed.

Kelly Caron, a streamer known as Kjanecaron online, was recently doing a cooking livestream for her fans, when suddenly things went totally wrong.

The social media star, who is based in Miami, Florida, was left terrified when the pan that she using to cook a piece of steak suddenly burst into flames.

Unsure of what to do, she frantically tried to move the pan to her sink, but that only made the fire grow bigger.

She begged her followers for help as rushed around the kitchen looking for a way to put it out.

A recording of the moment, which was reposted on Twitter by the account Dexerto, quickly went viral – gaining more than two million views in a matter of days.

The clip starts with Kelly taking the piece of steak out of the pan and putting it on a nearby plate.

But she left the pan, which was filled with hot oil, on the burner. And as it continued to heat up, smoke started to fill up the whole room, which she attempted to fan away with her hands.

When it suddenly ignited into flames, she quickly began to panic.

‘Oh s**t, oh s**t, oh s**t,’ she said before picking up the pan and putting it in her sink.

But that made just it worse, so she moved it back to the stove. 

‘Oh s**t. F**k. F**k, f**k, f**k,’ she said as the fire alarm began to go off. ‘I don’t know what to do, guys. I don’t know what to do.’

She then began screaming the word ‘help’ over and over again as the fire continued to grow.

‘I don’t know what to do you guys,’ she said again. ‘Guys! I don’t know what to do!’

The video then ended – so it’s unclear how the situation was resolved.

Thankfully, Kelly gave an update to her followers on her Instagram Stories hours later, and confirmed that she was OK. However, she said she did burn her hand ‘a little’ from the incident. 

‘Yes, I’m OK just burned my hand a little and the fire department came, NBD,’ she wrote, alongside a selfie that showed her giving a thumbs up.

In another post she wrote, ‘Alive and well and still streaming.’

She also shared the video to her Twitter and added, ‘Whoops.’

Many viewers found Kelly’s predicament entertaining, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

‘This is why you shouldn’t stream and cook at the same time. Doubly so if you have no idea what the hell you are doing,’ wrote one person.

Another asked, ‘Why [the f**k] would you do a cooking stream if you don’t know the basics in safe cooking?’

‘This is what happens when people don’t pay attention in school,’ someone else added.

‘No one should EVER cook unless they have a viable tool to put out fires (e.g. fire extinguisher),’ a different user said.

A fifth tweet read, ‘The fact that she was holding a burning pan that was dripping burning oil on the floor and she still felt the need to be focusing on the camera and chat instead of putting the fire out is the worst part.

‘Why try cooking streams if you don’t know basic fire safety?’

One viewer joked that it was a ‘lit’ stream, while another slammed others for laughing about it.

‘You’re laughing. A girl almost died and you’re laughing,’ they wrote.

‘Fires are absolutely terrifying, and it’s VERY easy to say you’d act differently when not in the situation,’ someone else wrote in defense of the streamer.

‘It’s a good lesson to know what to do if it DOES happen to you, however panic can take over logic in the moment.’

Back in April, a chef and restaurant owner, known as DIMSIMLIM, explained on TikTok that when you’re burning oil, if the smoke coming out of the pan turns white than it most likely means it’s close to catching fire.

However, others defended the streamer and slammed people for laughing about it

Back in April, a chef, known as DIMSIMLIM, explained on TikTok that when you’re burning oil, if the smoke coming out of the pan turns white than it most likely means it’s close to catching fire

He also reminded people not to use water in an attempt to put out oil fires.

‘Turn off the gas, add more oil, and blow it out,’ he recommended. 

According to Allstate, ‘Even a small amount of water dropped into a pan or deep fryer filled with burning oil will sink to the bottom, become superheated and erupt.

It recommended turning off the heat source, using a metal lid to cover the pan, or using a fire extinguisher to put it out.

‘The grease fire will no longer be able to thrive and spread without oxygen,’ the company wrote. 

‘Once the heat source is turned off, find a metal lid that will cover the entire pot or pan.

‘Let the pan cool for a long time and do not remove the lid because the fire could start again.’
