Older Amazon Kindles are about to lose access to the Kindle Store

Owners of older Amazon Kindles just can’t catch a break it seems, and some of the older members of the ereader family are about to lose a key piece of functionality – which might prompt some to check our list of the best Kindles and pick up a new one.

As spotted by GoodEreader, Amazon has been emailing people who own an old Kindle to tell them that their device soon won’t have access to the Kindle Store anymore. These devices are the basic Kindles from the second- to fifth-gen models (which includes the Kindle Keyboard), as well as the Kindle DX.
