CHICAGO (WLS) — It’s time for Festival Friday!

Let’s start with the scary stuff!

The Old Joliet Haunted Prison, the only haunted house in the Chicago area located inside a real abandoned prison, is back and promises more scares than ever before! It opens Saturday and runs select nights through November 5.

There’s more fall fun at Brookfield Zoo’s Oktoberfest, Saturday and Sunday. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. they’ll have seasonal food, beer and live Polka music.

Then, there’s Oaktoberfest in downtown Oak Park! Friday and Saturday they’ll have live music, craft beers, a kids Root Beer Garden and delicious foods from local restaurants!

The West Town Art Walk showcases a diverse group of artists at local businesses in the west side neighborhood from Division to Hubbard, Halsted to Kedzie. The self-guided tours celebrate all forms of art from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday.

On the film beat, it’s the 40th anniversary of Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival!. Screenings will be held at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema and Chicago Filmmakers through October 6.

On the theatre beat, Steppenwolf Theatre opens its new season with the Chicago premiere of The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington. This fantasitical play remixes this country’s dark history with a delicate balance of truth and humor. It runs through October 9.
