Woman who displayed handgun in Arlington hospital ER later found dead

Arlington police said a woman entered the ER lobby at 8:55 a.m. and displayed a gun. Denton County deputies found her dead in their jurisdiction that afternoon

ARLINGTON, Texas — A woman who displayed a gun Saturday morning in the emergency room lobby at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital was found dead that afternoon, police say.

The Arlington Police Department (APD) told WFAA it was working an “active situation” in which a woman entered the ER lobby at approximately 8:55 a.m. Saturday, displayed a gun and left the hospital before officers arrived. Arlington police told WFAA there were no shots fired in the incident.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office said that woman was found dead in their jurisdiction later that afternoon.

Arlington police say an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances around her death.

Police said they will not be releasing the woman’s name at this time out of respect for the investigation.

The APD also said there were many officers around the hospital to make sure everything is safe.

Back in October of 2022, there was a shooting inside a hospital in Dallas. Nestor Hernandez, a four-time convicted felon, walked into Methodist Hospital and killed two hospital employees. That situation led to lawmakers pushing for new legislation to prevent more violence. You can watch that story here:

This is a developing story and WFAA has sent a crew to gather more information.
