Man with knife or sword surrenders to SWAT afte barricade in Venice

VENICE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man reportedly armed with a sword or knife surrendered to an LAPD SWAT team following an hours-long barricade in Venice on Monday.

The incident was first reported at 12:26 p.m. in the 400 block of Santa Clara Avenue, near Abbot Kinney Boulevard.

The man, who was described as a burglary suspect, surrendered to police around 4:30 p.m.

AIR7 HD captured as the man exited the residence with only a towel covering him. He was taken into LAPD custody.

There have not been any reports of injuries.
