The hunt for a man sought over the alleged shooting of a police vehicle in Tasmania has entered a third day.

Robert George Greig, 33, has been named by police as a person of interest in relation to shots allegedly fired at officers, near New Norfolk, north of Hobart, late on Monday.

Police were responding to an alleged domestic violence incident, when shots were fired at a police vehicle. Soon after a second police vehicle was shot at along Boyer Road.

Greig has been urged to make contact with police and surrender.

“Mr Greig, please make contact with police so we can safely resolve the situation for you, your family and your loved ones,” Commander Tim Dooley said yesterday.

Anyone who has seen Greig or the vehicle are warned to not approach him but, instead, to call police on 131 444.
