‘They took inches’: Richmond defender reveals gruesome penis injury

Richmond defender Nathan Broad has revealed gruesome details of an incident where he sliced his penis open on the football field.

The freak injury left Broad needing to be rushed to hospital after he fell to the ground during a junior football game.

The 29-year-old told The Herald Sun this weekend he was kicking the football when a tackle went horribly wrong.

Broad, who was just 12 years old, says he was kneed in the groin during the ill-fated incident in a collision that stretched the skin and caused his penis to be split open.

“I had a look and the old “johnson” was hanging out like a chook’s neck,” he said.

“It was literally just hanging by the beans and it (the tear) went all the way around back to the start. A perfect cut, hardly any blood.”

He is able to laugh about the episode now, but has admitted there were scary moments after being rushed to the emergency department. He says a large number of stitches were needed to piece everything back together.

“They took a few inches off me, I reckon,” he said.

Broad and partner, reality TV star Tayla Damir, earlier this month announced they are expecting a girl.

The delighted couple, who got married last October, shared a picture on Instagram of Damir, 25, cooking with her growing baby bump showing.

They captioned the photo: “Cooking for three.”

They also shared an ultrasound picture, as well as picture of the two of them hugging while holding their dog and a sign, which reads: “It’s a girl!”

Celebrity pals were quick to comment on the Love Island winner and Richmond player’s post.

Bec Judd wrote: “Congrats gorgeous!!!! Best news x”

Nadia Bartel said: “Oh my gosh!!! Best news ever!!!!”
Erin Holland commented: “OMGGG!!! Congrats gorgeous gir️l. So so happy for you.”

Damir and three-time premiership winner Broad, 29, tied the knot in Queensland in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends on October 17 last year.

The couple got engaged in June 2021, with Damir uploading the magical moment Broad got down on one knee to her Instagram account.

A camera set up in their backyard captured the moment Broad took a deep breath before popping the question.

“My forever. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend,” Damir captioned the post.
