Police on Thursday released a photo of the man they say shot his Harlem neighbor after she intervened in a fight between him and his girlfriend.

Avery Dunning, 35, is wanted for attempted murder in the shooting of Jemina Garay.

Garay, 41, continued to cling to life Thursday night after neighbors and police sources said she called 911 on Dunning as he screamed at his girlfriend early Wednesday morning.

When the mother of six left for work around 8:25 a.m., Dunning confronted her in the hallway of a Lincoln Houses building on E. 135th St. near Park Ave

After an argument, the man pulled out a gun and shot Garay in the head and hip.

At least one of her children watched in horror as a quick-thinking neighbor treated the wounds while medics made their way to apartment.

Garay was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she remained in critical condition Thursday night.

Police released photos of Dunning in the hopes someone may be able to locate him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (8000 577-TIPS.
