Police fatally shoot German shepherd that attacked officer in Staten Island

Cops shot and killed a dog that attacked them in Staten Island on Thursday, according to police.

The officers were called to a house on Comstock Ave. near Lenore Court in Graniteville for reports of an emotionally disturbed person around 4:25 p.m., police said.

When they entered the residence, a German shepherd lunged at them and attacked, they added.

The dog bit one of the officers multiple times, leaving him with multiple lacerations.

His partner fired off shots, killing the dog.

Both officers were taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.

The officer who opened fire was treated for tinnitus.
