Indonesia’s Merapi volcano erupts in Java
Indonesia’s Merapi volcano has erupted on the island of Java, sending a hot cloud seven kilometres into the atmosphere.
The nearly 3,000-meter-high volcano is one of the country’s most active.
In 2010, Merapi last violently erupted, killing more than 350 people.
According to a local monitoring post, no residents have currently been evacuated.
