Wrench, a 7-year-old Seattle startup that offers a mobile car repair service, has reeled in another competitor with the acquisition of YourMechanic, a Silicon Valley startup founded in 2012 that also offers repairs.

YourMechanic will add more than 350 technicians across 30 states to Wrench’s network. The company had raised more than $40 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and SoftBank, and was a Y Combinator startup in 2012.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“By welcoming the YourMechanic ecosystem to Wrench, we are expanding what was already the largest mobile vehicle service network in existence,” Wrench CEO Ed Petersen said in a statement.

Wrench employs “mobile mechanics” around the country that come to the customer to do repair jobs without a physical shop or dealership, through booking on an app. In addition, Wrench provides access to roadside towing, vehicle detailing, tire installation and inspection of used cars prior to purchase.

Wrench has acquired several businesses including Lemon Squad; Fiix; and Otobots.

Last year Wrench landed investment from Bridgestone following a $20 million raise in 2019. Other backers include Madrona Venture Group, Tenaya Capital, Vulcan Capital, Alumni Venture Group, and Arnold Venture Group. The company employs about 325 people.
