Paul Pelosi attacker David DePape also targeted Tom Hanks, Gavin Newsom & Hunter Biden in ‘suicide mission’

The man who allegedly beat Paul Pelosi within an inch of his life with a hammer had a list of other targets including Hunter Biden, Tom Hanks and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a court heard Wednesday.

San Francisco Police Sgt. Carla Hurley testified Wednesday David DePape — who had gone to the Pelosi residence with the intention of kidnapping House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — made the admissions in a post-arrest interview.

In a video of the interview played for the court, conspiracy-obsessed DePape made rambling claims against Pelosi and the Democratic party — and claimed his break-in was the start of a wider crime spree.

Hurley testified DePape, 42, told her his other targets included Newsom, Hanks, Biden and Gayle Rubin — a University of Michigan professor who writes on queer theory, sex and gender.

DePape’s choice of targets and reasoning was unclear, beyond a general dislike of Democratic Party politicians and left-leaning figures.

“There is evil in Washington. It’s this f–king record-breaking crime spree!” DePape said in the video. “The Democratic Party was for the past four years — This was f–king insane … So not only were they spying … they were spying, covering it up … They go from one crime to another crime, it’s the whole f–king 4 years.”

Once inside the Pelosi residence, DePape said he had told Paul Pelosi he couldn’t be stopped.

“I explained to him — I have other targets,” DePape said on the video. “I can’t be stopped. If you are willing to stop me, I’m not going to be stopped here.”

NANCY PELOSI
DePape made claims that invading the Pelosi home was the start to his crime spree.

In a previously released snippet from a police interview, DePape had described how he felt he was on a “suicide mission” and he was “not going to stand here and do nothing even if it costs me my life.

Hurley told the court that she believed DePape’s words saying: “He mentioned two different times that if officers shot him, they would not miss and he was ready for that.”

According to the District Attorney, DePape had used a hammer to break into the Pelosis’ $6 million mansion through a back door in the early hours of Oct. 28 and confronted Paul Pelosi, 82, in the bedroom.

During the bizarre incident, Paul was able to call police, who responded to the address and found him and DePape fighting over a hammer. When DePape went to hit Pelosi, police were able to subdue him and bring him into custody.

In DePape’s backpack, police found another hammer, gloves and a laptop.

Assistant DA Phoebe Maffei described the injuries Paul Pelosi sustained in the hammer attack, including a circular indentation and chipped bone on the right side of his head, two skull fractures and lacerations on his hands.

He was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery and after treatment was able to return home a few days later.

DePape is facing attempted homicide and first-degree burglary charges, among others, in California state court as well as faces federal charges that could lock him up for up to 50 years.

The judge said Wednesday he found enough evidence to hold DePape trial and ordered him to be next arraigned on Dec. 28.
