r/netflix – ‘Wednesday’ Has Already Become Netflix’s Third Most Popular English-Language Series of All Time

The big story of the week is definitely Wednesday. Its 411,290,000 hours viewed in week two on the charts works out at 60.9 million equivalent complete viewings! It is a monster hit second only to Squid Game on the service after getting a solid 20% increase on its week one numbers. The increase is all the more impressive as a second week increase is less likely for a show with a Wednesday release date!

Some perspective for the Wednesday numbers in equivalent complete viewings:

Wednesday

• Week one: 50.6 million

• Week two: 60.9 million

Stranger Things s4

• Week one: 31.3 million

• Week two: 36.6 million

Dahmer

• Week one: 22.2 million

• Week two: 34 million

I absolutely expect a multi-season renewal for Wednesday to be announced fairly soon. It is easily their biggest English language show ever.

Not much else happening. The Crown (29.9 million) and Warrior Nun (11.3-13.2 million) wrapped their 4 week run in the charts. Warrior Nun is almost certainly dead. The Crown numbers are solid but it is clearly more of an awards hit than a big viewership hit.

1899 (6.1 million) and Dead To Me s3 (3.7 million) both posted sub 50% drops between the second and third week. A bunch of Netflix analysts on Twitter site this as a key metric for Netflix in renewal decisions.

New foreign language shows Hot Skull (less than 0.7 million) and Dead End (less than 1.9 million) missed the chart.

Only other notable thing was on the movie side. Troll had a monster opening week. 75,860,000 hours viewed (44.1 million equivalent complete viewings) places it 8th on the all time foreign language movie list after only its opening weekend! It will almost certainly land as the all time top movie. Expect a Troll 2 for sure!
