Scans of MySQL server instances by Shadowserver analysts found 2.3M exposed servers on IPv4 and 1.3M on IPv6 devices  —  Over 3.6 million MySQL servers are publicly exposed on the Internet and responding to queries, making them an attractive target to hackers and extortionists.
