A Paranormal Activity reboot drops on Paramount Plus next month

[ad_1]

Shaky cameras and supernatural hauntings have returned in another Paranormal Activity movie. Paramount released the first trailer for Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin on Friday, and revealed that the reboot will be released on Paramount Plus this October.

Details about the new Paranormal Activity film have been sparse since it was first revealed in February. The movie, produced by Blumhouse, has been described as a new beginning for the franchise. Based on the trailer, it seems that we can expect some colonial-era hauntings, mixed in with a more modern-day setting that might better fit the series’ signature found-footage, shaky camera style.

Perhaps the most exiting thing about the movie is the creative team behind it. Director William Eubank directed 2020’s Underwater, a deep sea-set horror movie that was creepier than anyone expected. Meanwhile, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin will be written by Christopher Landon, who directed both Happy Death Day movies and last year’s body swap horror-comedy Freaky. Landon has worked in the Paranormal Activity franchise before, directing and writing 2014’s Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, one of the series’ better sequels.

While Next of Kin was originally announced earlier this year, and mentioned once or twice by producer Jason Blum in the meantime, it was expected to release sometime in 2022. However, with the release of the new trailer, we now know that it’s coming much sooner than anticipated. Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin will be released and stream exclusively on Paramount Plus on Oct. 29.
