Call of Duty: Vanguard will require far less storage

[ad_1]

The Call of Duty series has been eating up more and more storage space in recent years, with last year’s entry, Black Ops Cold War, consuming as much as 180 GB on some platforms. But the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard has new tech to save players some precious space, Activision and Sledgehammer Games said in a blog post Wednesday.

Activision explained that new on-demand texture streaming technology is responsible for the size reduction compared to previous entries — up a 50% space reduction in certain cases. But Vanguard is still going to eat up nearly 100 GB for players on PlayStation platforms.

In its blog, Activision and Sledgehammer Games revealed the console install sizes for Vanguard, which will launch Nov. 5.

PlayStation 5: 64.13 GB Download | 89.84 GB Required Space

PlayStation 4: 54.65 GB Download | 93.12 GB Required Space

Xbox Series X|S: 61 GB Download | 61 GB Required Space

Xbox One: 56.6 GB Download | 56.6 GB Required Space

Sledgehammer said it’ll reveal the PC specs — for minimum, recommended, competitive, and Ultra 4K play — in the near future, and players can pre-load that version starting Nov. 2.

Players who’ve already pre-ordered Vanguard can start pre-loading the game as well. Both PlayStation and Xbox players can start installing the game Thursday evening, Oct. 28 — although times vary by region.

As with the past several entries, Call of Duty players can customize their install by prioritizing modes and omitting others. This should players space once they’ve finished with the campaign or if they never intend to play the Zombies mode.
