Destiny 2 Xur location and items, Aug. 6-10

The weekly Exotic item merchant, Xur, hangs out in random locations around the world of Destiny. In Destiny 2, he can appear all over the map, as well as inside the Tower. This week, you can find Xur on Nessus, north of the Watcher’s Grave, standing on a large tree.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

• Skyburner’s Oath, Solar scout rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
• Ophidia Spathe, Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
• Severance Enclosure, Titan chest: 23 Legendary Shards
• Eye of Another World, Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
• Exotic Engram: 97 Legendary Shards (you can now purchase a second with an Exotic Cipher)
• Exotic Cipher quest: free

Xur’s items drop at a similar power level as your character.

Skyburner’s Oath

Skyburner’s Oath is a scout rifle modeled after the Cabal’s slug rifle. Its first Exotic perk is Slug Rifle, which causes the gun to become more powerful when you’re aiming down its sights, and launch heat-seeking grenades when you fire from the hip. The second Exotic perk is For the Empire. This perk makes the gun fully automatic, deal extra damage to Cabal enemies and, most importantly, penetrate the shields of Phalanx enemies.

All of the perks around Skyburner’s Oath make it sound fantastic, but it’s a fairly mediocre weapon. However, it is pretty unique as far as Destiny guns go, so pick it up if you’re looking for something new.

Ophidia Spathe

The Ophidia Spathe chest piece’s Exotic perk is Scissor Fingers, which lets Hunters throw two knives per charge. This Exotic is pretty neat, and throwing knives have always been fun to use in Destiny. This piece is also fairly unique, as it lets players hold two charges of their melee ability while also granting them two charges instantly upon recharge.

When combined with the subclass’s unique abilities, you can essentially throw knives constantly. It’s a really fun play style, and definitely worth trying out if you have a Hunter.

Severance Enclosure

Severance Enclosure is an Exotic from Season of Dawn. Its Exotic perk is Spheromatik Trigger. Elemental melee kills unleash an explosion. Finishers increase the range and power of the explosion, as do kills on more powerful enemies.

This Exotic is unlikely to ever be useful for late-game activities. But it’s a really cool effect if you’re just looking to run around the world of Destiny and punch stuff — as Titans are wont to do.

Eye of Another World

The Cerebral Uplink perk on Eye of Another World will highlight targets for you and passively increase the regeneration of your grenade, melee, and Rift abilities. It’s one of the Warlocks’ best catch-all Exotics, and certainly worth picking up if you don’t have it yet.

Exotic Cipher quest

Starting in Beyond Light, Xur has a new quest for an Exotic Cipher. The Exotic Cipher lets you buy old Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Light kiosk in the Tower. You’ll need these items and some other currencies to pick up Exotics like Heir Apparent and Truth.

This week, Xur wants you to complete 21 Strikes or win Crucible or Gambit matches. By finishing the quest, you’ll earn an Exotic Cipher to use however you want.
