Luigi is getting his own Lego Super Mario set
Mario’s brother, Luigi (Mario Bros., Luigi’s Mansion 3), is getting his own Lego Super Mario set, Nintendo and The Lego Group announced Tuesday. The Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, a 280-piece set that features a green-colored plumber, a pink Yoshi, a Bone Goomba, and Bowser’s henchman Boom Boom, will be released this August for $59.99.
Luigi, who is famously a coward, behaves much like his more popular brother does in Lego form. The back-up Mario brother features an LCD screen to display different reactions (like fear) and a speaker that plays sounds and music from the Super Mario Bros. games. Lego Luigi also includes a built-in color sensor, which will trigger reactions from purple-colored bricks, indicating poison, and “nougat-brown-colored bricks” that represent the Tower biome.
Lego revealed the Lego Super Mario play sets last March, showing off the unique blend of its interactive digital Mario figure and brick-based play sets. Lego Super Mario launched in August 2020 with the Adventures with Mario Starter Course, 10 expansion sets and four Power-up Packs — and now that everyone remembered Luigi, he’s getting one, too, for the line’s first anniversary.
Pre-orders for the Adventures with Luigi Starter Course are available at Lego’s website. Check out the full Lego Super Mario line at Lego.com.
