JOLIET, Ill. — An investigation is underway after two people were found with gunshot wounds in Joliet early Saturday morning.

According to Joliet police, officers were first called to an apartment complex in the 300 block of North Broadway Street just after 5:30 a.m., on reports that a person had been shot in the area.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. Police say the man then told officers that he had been shot by an unknown individual near the third-floor hallway of the apartment complex.

While officers were on the scene, they found a 45-year-old man, who had also been shot in the leg, across the street.

Police say the second victim was uncooperative, told officers that he had no knowledge of the other shooting, and refused to provide police any further information.

Officers say they were unable to locate crime scenes for either incident and have not been able to determine if the shootings were related.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shootings and an investigation is now underway.

Anyone with information that could help authorities in their investigation is asked to contact the Joliet Police Department Investigation Division at 815-724-3020 or Will County Crime Stoppers at 800-323-6734.
