2 in custody following stabbing death of man in downtown Los Angeles

Two people were in custody following the stabbing death of a man in downtown Los Angeles. 

The incident happened Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Wall Street and Olympic Boulevard. 

“You hustle hard, you get a shop, you work hard for your family and your life ends because two punk kids want to steal a wig,” said a community advocate. “It’s tragic, right? What kind of world are we living in right now?” 

Police said the man who died was 56-year-old Du Lee, who chased the pair after they stole a wig from his shop. 

Investigators arrested the two suspects – described as a 17-year-old boy and girl- who fled the scene before being caught. 

Vendors in the area said they are worried about crime and their own safety. 

“It scared everybody here,” said one vendor to CBSLA  “People were crying. Ladies were crying. It’s sad when you see this sad news.”
