Driver in stolen car leading authorities on chase through LA County

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A driver in a stolen car led authorities on a chase that went through multiple Southern California counties Thursday evening.

As the suspect continued driving recklessly on Pacific Coast Highway in the Malibu area, authorities called off the pursuit just before 8 p.m.

Riverside police say the driver failed to yield after they say they learned the suspect was driving a stolen car. When the chase went through the 60 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol took over.

AIR7 HD was over the pursuit around 7:10 p.m. as the suspect was speeding in a white Scion car on the 60 Freeway near the Boyle Heights area.

While on the 10, the suspect would weave dangerously past other cars in a desperate attempt to evade captures.

The chase went through multiple freeways, including the 57, 60 and 10.

The driver continued driving erratically as the pursuit entered Santa Monica and went through PCH. At that point, authorities decided to stop chasing the suspect, likely to not put nearby motorists in danger.
