Brush fire in Gorman shuts down 138 Freeway, 60% contained

A brush fire in the Gorman area has grown to 148 acres on Wednesday, but fortunately there are no structures threatened at this moment, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs station.

Firefighters have managed to control the fire, reporting at least 60% containment. 

The fire was first reported taking place at the 43800 block of West Lancaster Road and Old Ridge Route Road, near Highway 138 in Gorman. 

As a result, the California Highway Patrol has shut down Highway 138. 

It’s unclear at this moment what the exact cause of the fire was. 

No injuries have been reported.
