1,500 summer traffic tickets voided due to faulty cameras
The Canadian city of Ottawa is voiding nearly 1,500 traffic tickets issues between the start of July and mid-August due to speed cameras that were not properly calibrated.
Those citations were issued in two school zones where the speed limit is roughly 25 mph when classes are in session and 30 mph in the summer, when no students are present, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports.
An administrative error is blamed for the proper adjustments not having been made. The issue was resolved on Aug. 16. Anyone who wrongly received a speeding ticket near Sacred Heart School or in the area of St. Patrick High Schools and Charles H. Hulse Public School, are being asked not to pay their fines. Drivers who have already paid will be reimbursed, the CBC said.

CTV News reports that photo radar cameras in Ottawa have reportedly generated $5.4 million in revenue for the Canadian capital in the two years since they were installed. Trippy.com says that a drive from Ottawa to Albany takes five hours. Nearly a million Canadians call Ottawa home.
