2 dead in reported shooting at Colorado Jehovah’s Witness hall

Two people were found dead Sunday at a Jehovah’s Witness congregation near Denver amid reports of a potential active shooting and investigation of a suspicious device.

Thornton Police confirmed on Twitter the bodies of two adults had been found at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

“The investigation is still active, witnesses being interviewed, scene being examined,” said Thornton Police on Twitter.

A gunshot was reported at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Thornton, about 10 miles north of Denver, FOX3 Now reports.

Additional details surrounding the incident, including identities of those involved or thought to be involved, were not released.

Thornton police first tweeted a notice at around 10:30 a.m. local time, noting that a homicide was being investigated at the hall.

“Heavy police presence at the scene. There is no active threat,” wrote Thornton Police, promising updates. “Still very early in the investigation. The Adams County Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Materials Unit is on scene as well.”

Police said there was no active threat and requested people avoid the area.

Thornton authorities did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
