Man Shot as Gunfire Breaks Out in Times Square: Police
A man was injured after gunfire rang out in the Times Square area Thursday, police said, causing a stir through the popular tourist spot.
Reports of shots fired came in before 6:30 p.m. near 44th Street and Eighth Avenue, according to police. It was not clear what led up to the shooting, but a man in his 20s was struck by a bullet. He then ran a block away before collapsing in front of a deli on West 43rd Street, and was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, police said.
There was a sprawling crime scene with a large police presence outside of a Shake Shack, where the shots were fired, according to police.
No arrests have yet been made, and police are searching for the gunman.
