NYPD cop shot in leg during clash with gunman on Brooklyn street

An NYPD officer was shot in the leg Wednesday during a clash with a gunman in Brooklyn, police sources said.

The officer was responding to a fight on Gates Ave. near Franklin Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant when one of the people involved in the clashed opened fire, blasting the cop in the leg about 9 a.m., the sources said.

His fellow officers rushed the cop to Kings County Hospital in a squad car. He’s in stable condition and is expected to recover, police said.

The gunman was taken into custody. It was not immediately clear if he was was also shot.
