Pedestrian, motorcyclist killed in separate crashes minutes apart on NYC streets

A pedestrian and a motorcyclist were killed in separate crashes minutes apart in Queens and the Bronx on Tuesday, police said.

In the Queens incident, a 74-year-old man was at the intersection of 62nd Road and Woodhaven Blvd. in Rego Park when the driver of the motorcycle hit him around 5:10 p.m., cops said.

Medics rushed the pedestrian to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died.

The 22-year-old motorcyclist remained on the scene and was taken to the same hospital in stable condition, police said.

About 20 minutes later, a 21-year-old motorcyclist was riding south on Broadway when the driver of a box truck made a U-turn near W. 262nd St. in North Riverdale around 5:30 p.m., cops said.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike to the pavement.

He was rushed to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers with severe head and body trauma, police said.

He could not be saved.

Neither driver immediately faced charges as members of the NYPD’s Highway Collision Squad continued to investigate the crashes.
