Tom Sizemore dead at 61 after brain aneurysm

Actor Tom Sizemore died Friday, several days after suffering a brain aneurysm at home. He was 61.

TMZ was first to report the news of his passing.

The “Saving Private Ryan” star was hospitalized in the early morning of February 18, having sustained a brain aneurysm as the result of a stroke, TMZ reported at the time.

After more than a week in a coma, Sizemore’s family was “deciding end of life matters” earlier this week, having been told by doctors there was no hope for his recovery.

Thomas Edward Sizemore Jr. was born in Detroit, Mich. on November 29, 1961. He rose to prominence in the 1980s on the show “China Beach.”

In the 1990s, Sizemore had several supporting tough-guy roles in movies such as “Strange Days” and “Heat.” His appearance in Steven Spielberg’s WWII epic “Saving Private Ryan” in 1998 as Sergeant Horvath is perhaps his best-known role.

In the early 2000s, Sizemore often made more headlines for his legal troubles, as he battled with substance abuse and even made an appearance on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

The actor recently had somewhat of a resurgence, appearing in several TV shows including the Showtime reboot of “Twin Peaks” in 2017. This year he made an appearance on the popular Netflix series “Cobra Kai.”

He is survived by two teenage children, Jagger and Jayden Sizemore, fathered with his former partner Janelle McIntire.
