Police Clear Venue in London After Concert Crush

Four people were critically injured in a crowd crush at a concert in the Brixton O2 Academy in London on Thursday, December 15. This footage from concertgoer @jc_juicyj shows the crowd outside the venue, where Nigerian singer Asake was performing, after police arrived at the scene. “I found myself on the floor, praying dear Lord no one kicks me or steps on me before I manage to get up and get out of there,” @jc_juicyj said in an Instagram post. Local news reported eight people were taken to hospital by ambulance, four of whom were in a critical condition, while others were treated at the scene by paramedics. @jc_juicyj said people outside the venue were selling fake tickets, or reselling the same ticket to multiple people, “making it a game of luck who got in.” An urgent investigation was under way, police said. In a tweet on Friday morning, Sadiq Khan, mayor of London, said that he was “heartbroken that this could happen to young Londoners enjoying a night out in our city”. Credit: @jc_juicyj via Storyful
