[ad_1]

A shark warning has been issued near Albany in WA’s Great Southern region after a whale carcass was spotted at Cheynes Beach.

The decomposing carcass was reported at 10:26am near Bluff Creek, about five kilometres north of the Cheynes Beach boat launching area.

Parks and Wildlife officers have warned the remains will act as a shark attractant along the stretch of coast near Waychinicup National Park.

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions spokesman issued a statement urging people to take additional caution in the area.

“While it’s not uncommon for sharks to be present off the Western Australian coast throughout the year, people should exercise additional caution,” he said.
