Boy, 17, arrested, two men sought in North York high school shooting

A teenaged boy has been arrested and two suspects remain at large following a shooting at a North York high school last week that left a student injured.

Toronto Police say a 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the May 12 shooting in the south parking lot area outside Victoria Park Collegiate Institute.

A Grade 11 student was in his parked car when two vehicles pulled up beside him and one of the occupants started shooting at him, cops say.

The boy drove away but was followed by a grey Mazda and the occupant continued to fire at him.

While attempting to escape, the boy contacted police. Officers later found the victim in the Don Mills Rd.-Lawrence Ave. area, some 3 km from the school.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police executed search warrants in the areas of Markham Rd. and Eglinton Ave. E. and Kennedy Rd. and Antrim Cresc. on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of a 17-year-old.

The boy is charged with robbery with a firearm, discharged of a firearm with intent to endanger life, disguise with intent, unlawful possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of restricted or prohibited firearm knowlingly without a licence, possession of a loaded firearm, and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm.

Police are looking for two suspects identified as Kody Lim, 19, and Zuhin Mohamed, 20.

Both are described as Black with a thin build and black hair. Mohamed has a chipped tooth, police say.
