FA Cup final 2022 live: Chelsea vs Liverpool line-ups and latest build-up

Hello and welcome to Telegraph Sport’s coverage of the 2022 FA Cup final, the competition’s 141st, with Liverpool and Chelsea returning to Wembley for a rerun of February’s Carabao Cup final. 

Liverpool took the spoils that afternoon after Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga blasted his spot-kick over the bar as keepers were called upon to take penalties in the shootout after no goals were scored over 120 minutes.

The match was overshadowed in the build up by the situation involving Chelsea’s Russian owner, Roman Abramovich, and his nation’s invasion of Ukraine.

Almost three months on, a new era dawns at Stamford Bridge. This will be Chelsea’ first post-Abramovich final, as the curtain opens on Todd Boehly’s ownership of the club, pending a green light from the UK Government and Premier League.

Liverpool are aiming to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2006, having lost to Chelsea in their last final appearance a decade ago. The Blues are looking for their ninth FA Cup, having last won in 2018 with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. 

Thomas Tuchel has branded Jurgen Klopp “the master of being the underdog” as he praised his compatriot for fostering a countrywide “sympathy” for Liverpool.

“When he trained Dortmund, the whole country loved Dortmund. So now he trains Liverpool and you have the feeling the whole country loves Liverpool.

“It’s big, big, big credit to him and this is what you deal with if you play a team against him, it’s always like this, but it’s always the fun part and so if we are the bad guys tomorrow, then no problem.

“If we take that role, no problem. We don’t want to have the sympathy of the country tomorrow – we want to have the trophy.”
