Alana Haim reflects on her first relationship and admits it’s ‘sad’ thinking about

Alana Haim, one third of rock band Haim and star of new film Licorice Pizza, has admitted it’s ‘sad’ reflecting on her ‘deeply intense’ first romantic relationship.

Speaking in a new interview, the star, 30, admitted she’ll ‘never feel that way again’ as after their first love, people put up walls.

She told Harper’s Bazaar: ‘I feel like that first love is just so deeply intense. The first cut is the deepest. You never have a love like that again. That’s a thing that’s kind of sad about it.’

She went on: ‘Once you have that first love that cuts you so deeply, you never will feel that deeply ever again.’  

When asked what she’s looking for in a current partner, Alana, who is the breakout star of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s new coming-of-age flick, insisted they have to be good at ‘long distance’.

She said he has to be ‘okay with me constantly being on the road, constantly touring’.

The musician elaborated: ‘That’s the hardest thing. I mean, I’m always gone.

She told Harper’s Bazaar : ‘I feel like that first love is just so deeply intense. The first cut is the deepest. You never have a love like that again. That’s a thing that’s kind of sad about it’

She went on: ‘Once you have that first love that cuts you so deeply, you never will feel that deeply ever again.’

‘The road is my husband, my boyfriend, my everything.’

Alana also opened up about the award-winning band she’s in alongside her sisters Este and Danielle, revealing people often have misconceptions about their antics.

‘People ask us what’s the most rock-star thing we’ve done. Maybe they watch too many 80s documentaries about bands from the 80s,’ she began.

‘They’re like, ”Do you throw TVs out the window?” And I’m like, ”No. I don’t even know why anyone did that in the first place”.’

Alana elaborated: ‘I never go out after shows. We’ve never been those kinds of girls. We’re like, ”No, we have our fun onstage. That’s all we need”.’

Alana also shared that life has never been better, and when asked by the magazine ‘where she is in life right now’ was quick to gush: ‘I’ve never been more happy in my whole f***ing life.’

In one particularly striking image, the star held a flower to her face while drenched in sunlight and wearing nothing but a crop top and briefs.

Meanwhile, Licorice Pizza also sees the late Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son Cooper Hoffman, 18, making his acting debut.

Also in the indie movie is Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Tom Waits and Benny Safdie.

Licorice Pizza follows a high school student living in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley who works as a child actor. It is set in the early 1970s.

Hoffman plays Gary Valentine who calls himself a ‘showman’ and wants to make it big as a Hollywood actor.

It seems him ‘growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973,’ according to the film’s official synopsis.

Licorice Pizza director Anderson and Hoffman made five movies together: Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love and The Master.
