Antonio Banderas Reveals Sweet Nickname Former Stepdaughter Dakota Johnson Gave Him

Antonio Banderas might not be married to Dakota Johnson‘s mom Melanie Griffith anymore, but the two are still super close!

While promoting his new movie Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, the 62-year-old actor opened up about his relationship with his former stepdaughter, and revealed the sweet nickname she has for him.

“She called me ‘Paponio,” Antonio revealed on E! News. “I am ‘Papi’ and ‘Antonio’ altogether, so she always called me ‘Paponio.’”

Antonio was married to Melanie, 65, from 1996 until 2015. The two are parents to 26-year-old daughter Stella Banderas. Despite the split, Antonio and Dakota, 33, have remained close. At the 2019 Hollywood Film Awards, Dakota honored Antonio with the Hollywood Actor Award for his role in Pain and Glory.

As of right now, Antonio and Dakota don’t have any plans to hang out during the holidays because “Dakota became a very busy person,” he said, “and she’s working all the time.”
