Arrowverse Creator Marc Guggenheim Disappointed With DC Studios Heads

[ad_1]

Arrowverse creator Marc Guggenheim has expressed his disappointment with the heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, for not involving him in the creation of their interconnected DC Universe. In a recent blog post, Guggenheim stated that he was not part of the writers room that Gunn and Safran had assembled to chart out the new DC Universe.

Marc Guggenheim shared his frustration with the lack of recognition he received for his contribution to the DC Universe. “I would have liked to have gotten at least a meeting,” he said. “Not a job, mind you. A meeting. A conversation. A small recognition of what I’d tried to contribute to the grand tapestry that is the DC Universe. I’d only spent nine years toiling in that vineyard, after all.”

The Arrowverse producer went on to express his disappointment that his work on the Arrowverse had not led to any other opportunities in Hollywood: “Simply put, the Arrowverse hasn’t led to any other gigs, so it feels – at least on a career level – that I really wasted my time.”

Marc Guggenheim is best known for his work on The CW’s Arrowverse, a shared universe of DC Comics-based television shows, which includes Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. The shows are known for their interconnected storylines and crossovers and have amassed a dedicated fan base over the years.

The DC Universe has a bright future under James Gunn and Peter Safran

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, television, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
