‘Avengers’ Star Mark Ruffalo Reacts To James Gunn’s DC Studios Move

The Marvel vs. DC rivalry is heating up as Avengers star Mark Ruffalo weighs in on James Gunn’s move to DC Studios. Gunn, known for his work on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series, has now taken on the role of running the DC division of Warner Bros. Discovery alongside producer Peter Safran. At the recent Emerald City Comic-Con, Mark Ruffalo was asked about his thoughts on James Gunn’s DC Studios hiring and what advice he would give the company. Instead of offering advice, Ruffalo showed support for Gunn, saying, “I would say, hire James Gunn, cause nobody does it better. And Marvel should be sweating because James Gunn is a really gifted filmmaker and I think he’s going to be amazing for that franchise.”

The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with all four DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
