Captain Sandy Yawn addressed her feud with Captain Lee Rosbach, shared that she hasn’t spoken to him since, and revealed what she learned from her experience on Below Deck.

After firing two crew members, Sandy notified Lee, who she temporarily replaced while he recovered from health issues. Though Lee agreed with the firings, he later took to Twitter and shaded Sandy for not informing him beforehand, and he claimed she showed a lack of respect.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Sandy addressed Lee’s negative tweets.

“I’m not in his shoes. I don’t know what’s going on mentally. I can only imagine,” said Sandy. “After seeing the condition Captain Lee was in [during season 10] — I went back to the gym and started doing Pilates. I’m a lot younger — 20 years younger — I honestly don’t wanna be that.”

Despite his public comments, Lee complimented the captain upon his return to the ship.

“She did the right thing [in firing Camille Lamb and Alissa Humber]. If they need to go, they need to go,” he expressed on the show. “She’s the one that had to deal with it and I am sure she made the best decision for the boat and the crew. I can’t express how much I appreciate [her filling in for me]. And maybe one day I will get to return the favor for her.”

Captain Sandy was bewildered by Lee’s off-camera claims. “I tried to call him,” she explained to Us Weekly, and she added that she wasn’t able to get ahold of him. “I am just so grateful to be alive because I almost died so many times. I have no enemies. I’m here to love and live and that’s it. Like I love puppies, I love people and I love life.”

The captain, who’s excited to return to Below Deck Mediterranean, shared what she learned from the experience.

“My teachable moment was maybe not step on a vessel without a handover. That was a big boat and I was really intimidated to be honest,” said Sandy. “I never ran that vessel before in my life, so maybe a little more training before I step out the helm next time.”

The outlet previously reported that the current season will likely be Captain Lee’s last, and Captain Kerry from Below Deck Adventure will take over in season 11.

Below Deck airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
