Queen Charlotte is ready to ascend the throne. On Tuesday, Netflix unveiled the first taste of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Storya spinoff series following the monarch in her pre-Lady Whistledown era. Golda Rosheuvel reprises her role as the elder Queen Charlotte, while Sex Education’s India Amarteifio portrays the titular character in her younger years.

The first teaser trailer features everything we’ve come to expect from the Bridgertonverse, including opulent castles, sensual hand grazes, and enough bodice-ripping sexual tension to make up for Penn Badgley’s apparent onscreen cleanse. Most of the drama seems to hinge on Charlotte’s burgeoning romance with King George (played by Corey Mylchreest). As the trailer warns, “Your marriage is the business of this country–it cannot go wrong.”

Reprising their roles in the prequel series are Bridgerton matriarchs Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh). They’re joined by a ’Ton’s worth of new faces, including Arsema Thomas as a younger Lady Danbury, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as a young Brimsley, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor and Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury. Shonda Rhimes executive produces the series with longtime creative partners Besty Beers and Tom Verica.
