Celebrities who hate being famous: The cruel price of fame

[ad_1]

It might come as a surprise that Adele is not a fan of fame, considering she’s one of the most famous singers of the 21st century.

But over the years, the Hello singer has made the fact quite clear.

As early as 2012, Adele has been open about the fact that she’s not at all interested in what fame has to offer.

“I just want to make music, I don’t want people to talk about me. All I’ve ever wanted to do was sing,” she said in an interview with NBC‘s Matt Lauer at the time.

Then in 2015, Adele clarified her statements.

“People think I hate being famous. I don’t. I’m really frightened of it,” she admitted in a personal blog.

She then revealed that it was watching how fame impacted her inspiration, Amy Winehouse, that left her scared.

“Watching Amy deteriorate is one of the reasons I’m a bit frightened. We were all very entertained by her being a mess.,” she wrote.

Just last year, Adele reiterated the idea to Apple Music interviewer Zane Lowe.

”I think it’s hilarious, that I’m an artist for my f–king job,” she said.

“But celebrity comes with it, and I’m not out for that. I don’t like being a celebrity at all,” she added.
