Everything You Need to Know About the Oscar-Nominated Shorts

[ad_1]

The Oscar-nominated shorts, foolishly relegated to the untelevised portion of the Oscars last year, are consistently the most fascinating viewing for Oscar completists. Animation unlike anything Hollywood studios would ever produce; live-action films from Luxembourg, Greenland, and beyond; documentaries that unveil hidden truths while sometimes stretching the entire definition of the shorts.

This year, as usual, all 15 of the Oscar-nominated shorts are playing in theaters, and are also available to rent via ShortsTV. And on this week’s Little Gold Men podcast, the hosts dive into all of them, determining the highlights as well as the likeliest winners. You can listen to the episode for the complete conversation, as well as a look at the surprising SAG Award winners and how they’ve made most of the acting races way too close to call. But for more on the shorts—and where to watch many of them totally for free—read more below.
